We understand what a hassle it can be to switch banks. We hope to make your transition to First American Bank as smooth and effortless as possible. To that end, we want to assist you in switching any automated deposits or withdrawals you may have setup with your current bank.
First, a few quick definitions:
 | Automated Clearing House (ACH) Debit - Any type of debit (typically monthly bills) that is automatically taken from your checking account.
| | Automated Clearing House (ACH) Credit - Any type of credit (typically paycheck, referred to as Direct Deposit) that is automatically credited to your checking account. |

Follow the steps below to make the easy switch to First American Bank. Step 1 - Open your new First American Bank checking account

Whatever your checking needs may be, we have an account type that will work for you. Take a look at our different checking account types here.
Step 2 - Switch your ACH debits to your new account*

Once your First American Bank account has been opened, you can begin the process of switching your ACH debits to your new account. We've included a handy list of links to many common companies (utilities, cell phone, IPASS, etc) where you can set up or switch your ACH online. If you do business with a company that does not have the ability to setup your ACH online, you can download our Automatic Debit (ACH Debit) Form. Simply fill in your information and mail it to them.
Step 3 - Switch your ACH credits to your new account*

Of course, you'll also want to make sure your ACH credits (payroll, social security, dividends, etc) are switched to your new account. You can download our Automatic Credit (ACH Credit) Form, fill in your information and, if applicable, present it your HR department. Likewise, present the form to anyone else who is providing you with a recurring credit.
If you are receiving Social Security deposits from the US Treasury, we have a Social Security Form which you can print out in order to switch your Social Security Deposit.
Note: You must bring the Social Security Form to one of our branches to fully complete it.
Step 4 - Cancel online bill payments with your old account and set them up with our free Online Bill Pay

Make sure you remember to cancel any automatic bill payments you've set up with your old financial institution and reinstate them with our free Online Bill Pay system. You can view an online demo here.
*Make sure you keep your old account open until the ACH debits and credits have cleared your new account. This process can take up to 60 days.
