We understand what a hassle it can be to switch banks. So we want to make your transition to First American Bank as smooth and effortless as possible.
Here are a few simple steps to follow:
- Open your new First American Bank checking account.
- Click here to view the different types of accounts we offer.
- Stop direct deposits at your previous financial institution and stop writing checks on that account.
- Start direct deposit into your First American account when your account number is received.
- Here's a link to our handy ACH Credit Form.
Once direct deposit into your new First American account has begun:
- Make sure all checks have cleared and transfer any automatic credits/debits from the previous account.
- You can download our ACH Credit Form or our ACH Debit Form to help you get started.
- If you receive Social Security deposits, you can download our Social Security Form and bring it into the branch to complete.
- Here's a handy list of links to many common companies where you can set up or switch your ACH online.
- Deposit remaining balance from the old account into new First American Account.*
- Make sure to close your previous bank account to avoid unnecessary fees.
- Enroll in our Free Online Banking and Bill Pay.
Within the next 30 days:
- Transfer any savings accounts to First American Bank.
- Transfer any home equity loans or lines of credit to First American Bank.
- Discuss your existing mortgage with a First American Lending Officer.
- Set up an appointment to discuss financial planning with a First American Investment Advisor.
- Check out First American's money market accounts and CD specials.
*Make sure you keep your old account open until the ACH debits and credits have cleared your new account. This process may take up to 60 days.
