Susan Berchiolli, Senior Vice President
Defined Contribution Senior Consultant

Susan has been a benefits professional for over 20 years. Prior to joining First American Bank in 2003, she managed the Qualified Plans department at Old Second National Bank in Aurora. Susan received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Elmhurst College. She has also earned the Qualified Pension Administrator (QPA) and Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) professional designations.

Mark Bouckaert, CPA, ERPA - Vice President
Defined Contribution Manager

Mark manages one of the departments responsible for the administration of defined contribution plans including 401(k), profit sharing, money purchase and ESOP plans. Mark joined HPL&S, now known as the Retirement Plan Services Group of First American Bank, in 1996 and has extensive experience with plan design, recordkeeping, administration, compliance testing and correcting plan errors. In addition, Mark is enrolled to represent clients before the Internal Revenue Service as an Enrolled Retirement Plan Agent. Mark received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Illinois. He is also licensed in casualty insurance. 

Tracy Childs, CPA - Assistant Vice President
Defined Contribution Consultant

Tracy joined HPL&S, now known as the Retirement Plan Services Group of First American Bank, in 1984 and has extensive experience with defined contribution plan design, recordkeeping, administration, compliance testing and correcting plan errors. Tracy received her Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy from the University of Illinois and is a member of the Illinois CPA Society and The National Center for Employee Ownership.

Thomas Doherty, Senior Vice President
Retirement Plan Consultant

Tom has over 35 years’ of experience with HPL&S, now known as the Retirement Plan Services Group of First American Bank, in designing both defined benefit and defined contribution plans, rendering actuarial consulting, plan compliance, fiduciary compliance and administrative services. Tom received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Loyola University of Chicago. He is enrolled with the Joint Board for the Enrollment of Actuaries. Tom is also a member of the American Academy of Actuaries and the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries.

John Ellis, Vice President
Recordkeeping and Administration Manager

John has been a benefits professional for over 15 years. Prior to joining First American Bank in 2003, he worked for Weiss Group, Lincoln Financial and Hewitt Associates. John received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Western Illinois, where he majored in Finance and minored in Economics. He has also earned the Pension Administration and Daily Valuation certification from the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries.

Lindsey Gula, Assistant Vice President
Defined Contribution Consultant

Lindsey has been a benefits professional for over 10 years with HPL&S, now known as the Retirement Plan Services Group of First American Bank. She administers defined contribution plans which include 401(k), profit sharing and ESOP plans. She has extensive experience with plan design, recordkeeping, administration, compliance testing and correcting plan errors. Lindsey received her Bachelor of Science degree in Actuarial Science and Finance from North Central College in Naperville, IL.

Adam Hohs, QKA - Assistant Vice President
Defined Contribution Manager

Adam joined HPL&S, now known as the Retirement Plan Services Group of First American Bank, in 2009 and has extensive experience with defined contribution plan design, recordkeeping, administration and compliance testing. Adam received his Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from Illinois State University. He has also earned the Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA) credential from the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries.

Ronald Kerst, Vice President
Relationship Manager - Qualified Retirement Plans Consultant

Ron has been a benefits professional for over 20 years. Prior to joining First American Bank in 2013, he spent the majority of his career at Northern Trust Company in the Corporate and Institutional Trust Department where he specialized in qualified retirement plans. Ron also has experience in the investment area, having spent five years with ANB Investment Management Company. Ron received his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from DePaul University. He has also earned the Retirement Plan Fundamentals (RPF) certification from the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries.

William Ludwig, Executive Vice President
Retirement Plan Consultant

Bill is one of the founding principals of HPL&S, now known as the Retirement Plan Services Group of First American Bank. Bill previously held positions with the Internal Revenue Service in the Examination Division as a field agent as well as in the Employee Plans Division. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana, where he majored in Mathematics and minored in Accounting.  William is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois CPA Society.

Daniel O’Connor, QKA, QPA - Vice President
Defined Contribution Senior Manager

Dan has been a benefits professional for over 15 years. Prior to joining First American Bank in 2004, he worked for HPL&S, now known as the Retirement Plan Services Group of First American Bank, specializing in retirement plan administration, plan design and compliance. Dan received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of St. Francis in Joliet, where he majored in Finance and minored in Economics. He has also earned the Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA) credential and the professional credentials of Qualified Pension Administrator (QPA) from the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries.

Karie O’Connor, QKA, AIF®, AIFA®, CFEI – Vice President
Retirement Plan Consultant

Karie has 29 years’ of experience across the retirement plan industry including consultation on proactive plan designs, technical and administrative solutions, ongoing investment analysis and due diligence, recordkeeping request for proposals, fee benchmarking and negotiations, and the management of fiduciary responsibilities for plan sponsors. Karie is an Investment Advisor Representative with extensive experience with multiple provider platform solutions. She holds a Life Insurance license with variable line of authority. She holds the professional credentials of Qualified 401(k) Administrator from the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries, and Certified Financial Education Instructor from the National Foundation Educators Council. She also holds the professional designations Accredited Investment Fiduciary and Accredited Investment Fiduciary Analyst from the Center for Fiduciary Studies.  Karie has been recognized of one of NAPA’s (National Association of Plan Advisors) Top Woman Advisors (2015) and is a Designee at the National Association of Plan Advisors Fly-In Forum in Washington, DC (2015, 2016) to advocate on behalf of the retirement plan industry, plan participants, and those without access to corporate retirement plans. Karie is a regular contributing editorial writer for the Daily Herald Business Ledger in the Chicago area.

Victoria Pelletiere, Vice President
Defined Benefit Manager

Vicky is responsible for the annual administration of the defined benefit plans, including cash balance plans. Vicky joined HPL&S, now known as the Retirement Plan Services Group of First American Bank, in 1984 and is qualified to represent clients before the Internal Revenue Service, the Department of Labor, and the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation. In addition to defined benefit work, she is knowledgeable in defined contribution plans, combination plans, and general nondiscrimination testing. Vicky received her Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Loyola University in Chicago. She is enrolled with the Joint Board for the Enrollment of Actuaries, a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries, and a Fellow of the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries.

Ryan Phillips, Assistant Vice President
Defined Contribution Manager

Ryan has been administering 401(k) and profit sharing plans with HPL&S, now known as the Retirement Plan Services Group of First American Bank, since 2010. He has extensive experience with recordkeeping, administration, compliance testing and plan asset conversions. Ryan received his Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has also earned the Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA) credential from the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries.  

Lisa Solliday, CPA - Vice President
Retirement Plan Consultant

Lisa is a consultant for all types of qualified retirement plans including 401(k), profit sharing, ESOP, defined benefit and cash balance plans. Lisa joined HPL&S, now known as the Retirement Plan Services Group of First American Bank, in 1991 and has extensive experience with plan design, recordkeeping, administration, compliance testing, correcting plan errors and fiduciary compliance. Lisa received her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Indiana University and is a member of the Illinois CPA Society.

Patricia Spiegel, ERPA, QPA - Vice President
Legal Manager

Patty joined HPL&S, now known as the Retirement Plan Services Group of First American Bank, in 1997 and has extensive experience in plan design, documentation, due diligence reviews, and government correction programs. In addition, Patty is enrolled to represent clients before the Internal Revenue Service as an Enrolled Retirement Plan Agent and also represents clients before the Department of Labor on retirement plan matters. She also holds the professional credentials of Qualified Pension Administrator (QPA) from the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries.

Yvette Witteck, First Vice President
Retirement Plan Services Department Head

Yvette is the head of the Retirement Plan Services Group. She has over 25 years of combined experience with First American Bank as well as with HPL&S, now known as the Retirement Plan Services Group of First American Bank. She has extensive experience with plan design, recordkeeping, administration, compliance testing and the correction of plan errors. Yvette is also a member of the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries.

Brian Zange, EA, MSPA - Assistant Vice President
Defined Benefit Plan Consultant

Brian is responsible for the annual administration and establishment of defined benefit plans, including cash balance plans. Brian joined HPL&S, now known as the Retirement Plan Services Group of First American Bank, in 1986 and is qualified to represent clients before the Internal Revenue Service, the Department of Labor, and the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation. In addition to defined benefit work, he is knowledgeable in defined contribution plans, combination plans, and general nondiscrimination testing. Brian received his Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Economics from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. He is enrolled with the Joint Board for the Enrollment of Actuaries, and a Member of the American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries.
